I'd recommend it if you need a cheap solution.
Cheap is the keyword in this review. This particleboard is cheaply made and pressed. The table is delicate so don't go overboard on laying too many items on top of it. We had ordered one through ShippingPass and it had arrived damaged. People at the warehouse probably toss items around with no care. I took the entire item back to a WalMart store. I chose the one with the least battered-looking box in the furniture section. Once I finished assembling it at home, it seemed to be working good. We've been using this everyday and so far it seems OK...not too sturdy..not too flimsy...just ok.
NOTE** - (if you're going to swap something at a store - check online to see if that item is in stock, then double-check by CALLING the store [hopefully you can speak to someone competent])TampaU
The table is nice and looks good in our living room. It's a little difficult to push completely done but I'm assuming it's because the springs are still new.MAKKG
Damaged table 2x!!!
Very disappointed that we've purchased this table 2x and both times it was damaged! My daughter lives on the 3rd floor apartment.Carrie
Pre-Assembled except for the legs!
Overall dimensions: 38" L x 19" W x 18" H .
When open: 38" L x 27.5" W x 26.5" H.
Storage area dimensions: 31" L x 16.5" W x 4.5" Deep.
Leg clearance from floor to bottom of storage: 11.5" H.
Legs: 2" x 2" square.
I am listing these dimensions here should anyone else like to know. Also, when open, the top can support up to 25 pounds while the storage area is rated for 35 pounds.
The only tool needed for assembly was the included hex wrench. Attaching the legs still took a bit of time because of the awkward angle needed to reach the screws and limited space available to turn the wrench.
I was shopping for a Kotatsu table. The online resources and pricing made me look into finding something that I could easily alter that was available domestically. This coffee table seemed to fit the bill. 2x2 risers are easily found, I can have a glass top made to order, and I can use a mini space heater as needed. At less than $100 for the base unit, I think it's still cheaper than trying to order something from overseas.Jeff
For the price it does the job
I have a tiny apartment so something that serves more than one purpose is nice. I can use it as a regular coffee table, lift it up and use it as a dining table (perfect for 2), use my laptop, and it has a decent amount of storage space to hide away yet keep handy magazines/books, remotes, coasters, and the like. I didn't find tipping a problem even without anything in the storage space like some others...so long as you don't sit on it or put a lot of weight on it, and why someone would need to do that I don't know. I've had my dinner, my laptop, a few books, cell phone etc all on it and it was fine. If you keep your expectations reasonable, it's a good functional table. It by no means seems or looks high-end, but it's not too ugly either. I didn't get it for its looks. I think it's worth the 79 bux. Comes with no instructions but pretty easy to figure out even for someone like me who usually gets someone else to put things together. Best to have 2 people to put it together. Had a few surface scratches out of the box but nothing too bad. I do agree that it probably is easy to scratch and scuff.Akaheba
